Sqill-Squad is a team effort gaming community primarily organized around FPS team combat situations as well as focusing on effective RPG and RTS strategy elements in gaming. In the wake of the mass exodus from Enemy Territory to alternate gameplay FPS games, we as a community are left scattered about the internet gaming world. Some of us are entertained by racing games, RPG and MMO's, some of us are all out zombie hunters where we maintain our TeamWork = TeamWin ideals...some of us do all of this and more.

We as a community of gamers and friends must keep our eyes open for that which will return us to the status of FPS obsessed gamers that most have lost.

After several titles failed to hold interest and promises toward gameplay elements were not kept by the developers, we may have new hope. There are several potentially perfect stand-ins for ET that can bring about the excitement to wreak havoc on our enemies once again.

BRINK of a new ET: Part 2

Looking closer at details in gameplay and comparing every action with what we were used to in ET there are a lot of similarities! · Speed jumping for distance and rooftop and obstacle hopping without slowing down. I think speed-strafe-jumps are still in as you can see in videos. This would mean Trick-Jumping is still possible with the physics, intentional or not. · S.M.A.R.T toggle helps aid the player with automatic, intuitive movements and responses to the environment without the added button presses needed to do it manually. OFF - Run toward a wall while looking up or down and you'll run into the wall and stopand need to press a button to do anything different. ON - Run toward a wall while looking down and you'll automatically slide and lean against the wall ready to fire, up and you'll automatically jump for the top of the wall and pull yourself up in a quick, fluid motion. Demonstration Video! · Quicker reloading and faster movement as you advance your character. · Can still lean around corners but this time you're visible while leaning but you can also shoot at the same time. · Grenades seem to function the same way as in ET · You still need to defend your explosives for about 40 seconds similar to dyno in ET. Explosives can be used to blow a shortcut through the terrain so obviously the 'Axis' will want to defuse/disable the dyno. The timer on the dyno isn't on your screen, it is on a display ON the dyno, so count the beeps or stay close enough to it to see how much time until boom-boom. Another ability is the new version of "Double jump". Now don't groan and be all "Fuck that", instead of jumping while in the air...as in jumping off of a cloud of air or something, you need to run and jump onto something first then a quick second hop to grab a ledge and pull yourself up. If you just stand on something and jump toward the ledge you won't reach, you need the running start and momentum to reach it. The pull up is quick, not like other games where you go real slow when climbing over things or up ladders and stuff. S.M.A.R.T. makes this very fluid and useful. A gameplay feature inspired by newer games not found in ET is aiming down the sights of your weapon for better accuracy. (known as iron-sights). I don't mind this feature but it's nice to have it if I want to use it. Sadly, the one feature of gameplay I first noticed that is different than in ET, as will many of you, is the crucial element of shooting while speed strafing. This is, I feel, the core element in what made ET's firefights so unique and exhilerating! You can still shoot while strafing, but once you hit your speed/run button your gun drops like in other games. So no shooting while running straight or side to side. Without this functionality I believe Brink will fall short of expectations of ET fans. I'm hoping this mechanic can be choosable in mods that will follow shortly after Brink's release on PC. Without running and gunning simultaneously I'm afraid Brink may turn out to be another just another FPS. Hopefully the other features, gameplay aspects and experiences identical or close to those from ET will be enough to keep the feeling close in comparison. As of right now I am sure that this is the closest version of a game offering an experience similar to ET by comparison to date, and I'm optimistic that this will meet enough expectations of an ET2 to again find and recreate the great gaming times we once had!
